hello everyone! :) as most of you probably know, (all of you really should know) today is national earth day!!!
as i sit here on a soft blanket in the quad of my beautiful campus in 77 degree weather, coldplay playing, with a bowl of cookie dough sitting next to me, i am happy.
purely and innocently happy.
 spending time outdoors is so r e f r e s h i n g.
i'm a huuuuge lover of the earth.
i love every thing god has given us by his wonderful imagination.
lately i've really been learning how to embrace nature and every part of it.
i love the feeling of sharp grass on my little toes,
i love the ability to be on a boat and only be surrounded by the vast and unwavering certainty of the ocean,
i love the feeling on sun rays beating down on my back,
i love the feeling of fresh, warm raindrops making their way down my skin,
i love the smell of fresh dandelions,
i love each and every sunset,
i love the feeling of jumping in the cold ocean when the waves take the breath out of you,
i love the wind in my hair when the windows are rolled down on a summer's day with music blaring,
i love trees and tree roots and big trees and small trees,
i love the smell of fresh cut grass,
i love climining mountains and the invincible feeling you get once you've reached the top,
i love the smell of the beach,
i love getting lost in the wilderness.
one of my favorite quotes is by anne frank -- "the best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and god. because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that god wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. i firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles."
and i agree wholeheartedly. i wish more people spent time outside, rather than being cooped up in their room on their phone every day. (i am a firm believer that some days are meant for simply staying in bed all day)
i love nature and how it makes me feel. i love everything about this good and great earth that the lord created. however, sometimes i wish i loved the earth more.
i wish i did more proactive things to show my appreciation for nature.
for example, i wish i spent more time outside. i tend to only embrace the sunny, happy days. but all days are beautiful because god created them. i wish i could learn to enjoy the cloudy days as much as i enjoyed the sunny ones. (kind of like life)
i don't litter for the sake of the earth and all it's inhabitants, but i wish i picked up after others more. every piece of trash or lent or unbiodegradable object is harmful to the earth and can kill helpless animals looking for food. i wish i was better at picking up the pieces of trash i see and pass by with out thinking.
i wish i took in the beauty of creation more every time i saw it. i've grown numb to nature to a point, and i wish i didn't. i wish i embraced it and appreciated it as much as god wanted me to.
psalm 104:24-25 :
"how many are your works, o lord! in wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. there is sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number- living things both big and small."
in a world and life that is so hectic and crazy at all times, it's nice to know i can get a little glimpse of heaven just by stepping out of my door.
